Matthew C. McCartney is a Partner at Eastman & McCartney LLP. Mr. McCartney earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of California at Hastings College of the law in 2003. Prior to law school Mr. McCartney attended the University of California at Davis earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Upon graduation from law school, Mr. McCartney joined McCartney & Associates, where Mr. McCartney worked on a wide range of business disputes and participated in numerous civil jury trials. While at McCartney & Associates, Mr. McCartney worked as an associate attorney on a wide variety of cases, including engineering malpractice, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, accounting malpractice, construction defect, malicious prosecution, and corporate dissolution.
In March 2011, Mr. McCartney joined the firm Gary L. Eastman, APLC, where Mr. McCartney brought his varied civil litigation skills to enhance the firm’s range of litigation services. In January 2013, Mr. McCartney joined with Mr. Eastman to form the partnership Eastman & McCartney, LLP.
With a background in mechanical engineering, Mr. McCartney currently focuses his practice primarily in intellectual property and construction litigation. Mr. McCartney has successfully litigated a variety of intellectual property disputes, including patent infringement, trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, and copyright infringement. In addition, Mr. McCartney has litigated a wide variety of construction disputes ranging from contractor homeowner disputes to disputes involving public works projects at both the state and federal level. Mr. McCartney also prosecutes patent and trademark applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. McCartney is admitted to practice in in all of the courts of California and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central, Northern and Eastern Districts of California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. McCartney is a member of the Kern County Bar Association and the San Diego County Bar Association.
Mr. McCartney currently resides in Bakersfield, California and manages the Eastman & McCartney, LLP office in Bakersfield.
